5 out of 5 stars Wicked and Delicious   August 19, 2010
Avid Reading in NV
Delicious is about Luc Traverson and Alyssa Deveraux. Luc knows what he wants and is one track minded about it. He wants the white picket fence, stay at home wife and kids galore. Only problem is he was pronounced sterile years ago. He has an inexplicable attraction to Alyssa and owes her a favor. He is a famous chef and he agreed to work for her opening week at her new restaurant. Alyssa owns a new restaurant and a strip club. Luc can't get over the strip club fact, his preconceived notions about strippers is what holds him back from going after Alyssa. His preconceived notions are biased, discriminative and untrue. Luc has to learn the hard way that Alyssa is just what he wants and needs.

Alyssa has been in the previous wicked series. I was very interested in hearing her story and to see where Luc ended up. Their attraction is passionate and uncontrollable. There are things that Luc doesn't understand or want to understand. This book has a good pace and it is interesting. I enjoyed catching up with previous characters as well. There is someone out to get Alyssa, Luc must let go of his prejudice and they both learn the value of honesty. Alyssa follows her heart and sets out to seduce. Alyssa is nothing if not determined =)
Recommended to anyone who likes erotic romance suspense.

3 out of 5 stars Deliciously Frustrating   August 3, 2010
A. Norman-Beltran (California USA)
I was a little disappointed by this book. In a lot of ways it lived up to what I thought I was going to be. . . HOWEVER, I really go annoyed by Luc and his constant perception of Alyssa being a "whore." His stereotypical mindset was exhausting to read, repeatedly. It took too long for his small brain to wrap around the fact that Alyssa could actually be a smart savvy business woman. Even after learning she encouraged the girls that worked for her to go back to school and even helped them find assistance. Did he honestly think she would not know anything about running a business- strip club though it maybe- so there for she wouldn't really have to be smart? Yes, it was a concept quite unfamiliar for Luc to have-you know giving someone the benifit of the doubt.

Everything she did that screamed success and educated decisions, ie being able to open up an amazing restaurant- he perceived as woman who got client help finding great deals by selling herself-he is constantly thinking the worst of her and getting angry at her. AND honestly- he's 'sterile' so he thinks absolutely nothing of protecting them with the chance that he could get Alyssa pregnant. Just because he has/had physical issues does not mean it was a zero chance to have a baby. He however makes up for it with all his pouting and temper tantrum like ways.

Instead of being upfront with Alyssa when he holds this secret- the whole time thinking the woman he 'loves' or could love- again is a whore passing off someone else's child to be his, only he is more than happy to take the roll of father. Where does this guy get off? I just felt really sorry for Alyssa-until her stupidity about how 'what if's' got in her way. On more than one occasion when you would think she could not handle more insult- she goes back for more.

It was such a push and pull of a chaotic, un-trusting and sometimes violent relationship, that it was hard, by the end to believe the honesty of their "love." You would think that with a past like her's-Alyssa would have been less likely to allow Luc to treat her the way he does. Instead, it takes him using her aggressively, for sex out of jealousy for her to tell him to never touch her or come near her. . . Later it's when she finds out he thought she'd been lying about the baby's father and she realizes, again how horribly Luc thinks about her.

I gave it three stars because, for what it is it did deliver in certain areas-It was a steamy read, and for the first few chapters lived up to my expectations- but the ending itself was just too much. I felt a little cheated and felt like Luc & Alyssa's relationship needed to flourish a little more before I'd by it.

2 out of 5 stars What a Disappointment!   July 7, 2010
A Lot of Reading
I'm sorry to say, this was bad from beginning to end...and just about page-for-page in between. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a hater. I liked the first two books in this series enough to read Delicious. Even though the first two were flawed, the author has a real talent for writing many compelling scenes and somewhat keeping the story together. But this just failed. The internal dialogue of the main characters was so consistently irritating, I can't believe I finished the book. I guess I'm not the type to quit in the middle and I just kept hoping it would get better. I know that there are more books planned for these characters and I sincerely hope Black puts in the effort to make the stories somewhat believable and to give the protagonists enough story to be interesting rather than repeating the same pat/absurd mental conflict over and over (and over!) again. Sheesh!

4 out of 5 stars I am speechless.................   June 26, 2010
Karen Woods (Montz, La, US)
I am new to this author. I read the first book in the series and then this book. I should have read the middle book. There were so many references to characters and scenes in that book. I love how this author adds suspence to her storylines. This story line was just rough. I get that she is beautiful and blonde and a stripper. How is one woman the victim (or focus) of five different men. I had to suspend belief as her hell went on and on. It was too much for me. I hate to go lower than four stars on this author. I was tempted!

5 out of 5 stars Loved It!   June 23, 2010

I just loved this book that I read it three times. Shayla Black is one of my favorite authors. I am not the type to tell you what's going on in the book. You would have to read it for yourselves.
