5 out of 5 stars Great plot, great erotic scenes   August 24, 2010
ReadingRaven (Orlando, FL)
Pleasure Unbound by Larissa Ione, installment #1 in the Demonica Series. (Great plot, Great erotic scenes) I picked up this book because I am always on the hunt for a new great series, and this was rated highly by readers of some of my other favorites. This definitely did NOT disappoint! It holds a mixture of mystery, suspense, drama, and steamy scenes. There is a wide variety of characters, both human and demon, and this book has a great plot, great writing, and GREAT erotic scenes. Left me on edge trying to figure out how everything ties together, and the ending was satisfying, but still leaves a wide range of new possibilities. Not a lot of paranormal romance revolves around demons, so it is a nice change in pace to the customary vampires and werewolves. Very excited to continue this series.

3 out of 5 stars Slightly disappointing   August 13, 2010

This was my first demon series as I decided to read something other than another vampire series. Based on other reviews, I chose the first 3 books in this series. All 3 books were a fun and easy read, but I really didn't get attached in any way to the characters or the story lines. Out of the 3 main characters (Eidolon - book 1 Shade - book 2 and Wraith book 3), the half vampire half-demon character Wraith was my favorite so when his story/plot ended up being so ridiculous it was cheesey I was rather disappointed. If you want a "10" rated series to read, try J.R Ward's characters (Black Dagger Brotherhood books 1-5. That is the kind of series you read over and over and want to own.

5 out of 5 stars Great Series!   August 12, 2010

I've never read Larissa Ione before and now I'm looking forward to all her books. This book was the first in the Demonica series and I've now read all in the series. Can't wait for Sin Undone and the spin-off to this series coming later (the prophecy).
Ms. Ione builds her characters for each book from the previous book. I wouldn't recommend reading them out of sequence, as you may get a bit lost.
If you like a good paranormal romance with plenty of singe-your-eyelashes scenes, I would definately suggest getting this series.

5 out of 5 stars LOVE IT!!!!   August 10, 2010

Eidolon has always been the calm cool collective one of his brothers. He created and runs a hospital for demons and other supernatural beings, with the help of his brothers. As a Seminus demon, a breed of Incubus, Eidolon is reaching his S'genesis, the second level of sexual maturation. He is coming onto his change and if he does not find a mate before the transition he will be ruled only by his instinct to bed and impregnate any female of any race. So he has been trying to push of the transition which he thought he had it under control till he met her. The day they bring in a human an Aegis Slayer (a group of humans who make it their mission to seek out and eliminate all demons and supernatural beings) into his hospital he finds he is losing said control. She ignites a heat in him he can't deny and when she comes on to him and urges him to take her, he can't help but give into this lust, knowing full well how this will end for him.

Tayla Mancuso has had a hard childhood drugged up psychotic mother for the first half and foster home to foster home till she was finally old enough to care for herself. Now she finally feels like she is in a place that is comfortable. Working for the Aegis has given her purpose a place to belong, even if she still feels out of place as she has all of her life. But now she is having a bit of trouble she had been losing feeling in her body at time and passing out other times, she doesn't know what is happening to her and does not want to let the Aegis know of her problem. But this problem happens at the worst moment and gets her partner killed and lands her in a hospital. Wail under heavy sedation she see the most handsome sexual man she has ever seen and has to have him. Once she wakes and fined that this is a demon hospital and that man was a demon. She wants nothing to do with him but her body is betraying her it wants him.
Eidolon knows it's crazy to want this little warrior but he lets her go only to have her return to him beat up again now he knows this was a trap taking her back to her house he finds the Aegis has set her up to die and lead them to his hospital. But when she didn't deliver and survived, they came to kill her.

They will find that they can only rely on each other and will find that the most terrifying things lie deep inside and can only be mended if you let the past go and let the future in.

This is like my third time reading this book I love this series Larissa Ione rocks. I like Eidolon he is very hot and mmm, I love his take charge attitude and how he is soo calm cool and collective most of the time. But I love the beast that Tayla brings out in him. How he will do anything for her and how he can't keep his hands off her, I love it. I love both his other brothers to Wraith has always been my fav. But I loved him even more once I read his book. Don't worry I'm going to reread and review his book soon. I pimp this series out all the time when someone asks for suggestions this book is one of the first three I suggest. If you have not read this series I seriously suggest you do, it is one of my top favorite series.

2 out of 5 stars Too much sex, not enough plot   August 7, 2010

Don't get me wrong- I like some good, strong sexually-energized romance as much as the next person- but that's all there was to this book. It's like the plot was meant just to hold all the sex scenes together. And as for those scenes- they were right from the beginning of the book. So you didn't get to enjoy two people falling in love with each other and "working up to" the amazing sex. I would not recommend this book.
