It is just exactly what I was looking for considering I am a body painter..

5 out of 5 stars Body art at its best   July 15, 2009
Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA)
Body art at its best is profiled in PAINTING THE BODY BEAUTIFUL, a stunning collection of body painting images organized by theme and captured in photos by Art Ketchum, documenting the painting work of Jim Brando. The first section holds a step-by-step description of the painting process including materials; the rest shows finished works including the models in process of being painted.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful photography and art   June 24, 2009
Eileen Briesch (Hudsonville MI USA)
Lush photographs by Art Ketchum feature the painting of Brando of models wearing nothing but painted clothing. But this body art is fantastic, and the photos show it off so well.

Especially intriguingly is the Fantasy and Floral section, in which models were painted as a butterfly, a fairy, an American flag, a masquerade design, an underwater design and fire coming from a racing car.

Enhancing the photos are quotes from the models and artist, and details from the artist on how he paints the models and step-by-step instructions on painting bodies, with a guide to supplies needed.

4 out of 5 stars Great talent   May 27, 2009
Rachel Mccarthy James (Salem, VA USA)
"Painting the Body Beautiful" is a tribute by Art Ketchum to the amazing, sexy talent and vision of Jim Brando. Brando's art consists of painting realistic clothing of all different kinds - jeans, overalls, suits, swimsuits, uniforms, and lingerie. Sometimes the results are indistinguishable from the real thing. The swimsuits and lingerie, especially the example used to show the process of painting at the beginning of the book, always made me do a double-take. Some of the "outfits" - such as the nurse or the airline pilot - were a little more based in fantasy, conceding to the artificiality of the art. But that didn't make them any less impressive!

My only qualm with this picture-heavy book was the limited glimpse into the process of painting the body. At the beginning, there's a detailed step-by-step explanation of how Brando paints lingerie, but there's no further explanations of different kinds of body painting. How does one paint a realistic uniform, for example? How is painting a swimsuit different than painting lingerie?

Despite this, "Painting the Body Beautiful" is an enjoyable look at an innovative art form. Ketchum and Brando will renew your appreciation for the art of painting and the beauty of the female form.

5 out of 5 stars A to Z information   May 17, 2009

I just received my copy of Art Ketchum's new book "Painting The Body beautiful". It's a tremendous collection of beautiful images depicting the art of body painting, step by step.
The backgrounds and the colors used make the images look realistic, the way the book is put together showcases all the images with double trucks and full 8.5 x 11 bleeds thru out.
Anyone who's thinking about this type of art should have this book at there side for it's A to Z information.
