Synopsis
Hilarious comedy stars John Candy as an overworked air traffic controller in Atlanta who decides to unwind by taking his family on a summer vacation to Florida. Once there, he suffers a leg injury and runs afoul of an annoying local sailing champion who owns the property he is staying at. John Candy's first leading role was in this 1985 film by Carl Reiner, in which the comic actor played a stressed-out air traffic controller who takes his family on a Florida vacation and has to deal with arrogant, rich jerks. Candy is good in what is almost a straight part (albeit with some jokes), and Reiner keeps the tone in check so his star has an opportunity to show more than one dimension. --Tom Keogh
